New Railing
The stairway in our house had, what I considered, an outdoor railing indoors. It had a previously black, painted white, rought iron railing. The kind of railing you usually see outside on concrete steps and elevated patios. Needless to say, I've hated that railing since we moved into our house almost 7 years ago. But I could not justify replacing it, because it would have been strictly a decorative improvement. Happily, last week the railing broke. Somehow, Mike managed to snap it, so we decided to replace it, with WOOD. Here's the before and after of the project... I am THRILLED! (It's not finished yet, the wood still needs to be varnished, but you can get some idea...)

I think I need to accidentally take a sledge hammer to our rod iron railing today. Then my DH will have to put up a pretty railing like yours. (Although he has finals next week, so I better wait....)
