New Dress from China

Our friends Nate and Donna recently returned home from China with their fourth (make no mistake... #4!) daughter. Donna is a great friend and a good shopper. In addition to 3 peasant paintings, Donna bought a special dress for Camille. It's a perfect fit, just a bit 'sexy' for a three-year-old, don't you think? We love it anyway and plan to bring it to California for Uncle Chris' rehearsal dinner, perhaps. I think these photos of Camille in the new dress make her look much older than three.

Underwear: Size 2

Camille is a petite girl; no doubt about it. She'll be 3 years old in a couple of weeks, but she'll easily still fit most 2T clothing. She's also potty trained and finding underwear to fit a petite gal with no hips and no butt has proven to be a challange. Pictured below are 3 different brands of little girls undies in the smallest size I could find. They were all marked either 'Size 2' or 'Size 2T/3T'. But they are certainly not all the same size! Needless to say, the ones to the far left fit the best but are still baggy. I imagine the ones to the far right will fit when Camille is 6 or 7 ;o)

2nd Annual "Gotcha Day" Anniversary!

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY!

It's really hard to believe it's been 2 years already. And yet, somehow, it's hard to believe it's only been 2 years... I can't remember life without Camille and quite, frankly, I don't want to. But I can remember that moment, when the 13 pound little monkey in the green split-pant overalls, was placed into my arms and immediately grabbed hold of me and buried her face in my shoulder. I still imagine she was thinking "Thank God you are here... please take me home!" We called Camille our baby bird. She was so thin, so tiny, so frail.... my how times have changed!

Last year we celebrated our first 'Gotcha Day' with a family dinner at a nice restaurant. We decided then, that future 'Gotcha Day' anniversaries would belong to Camille. We would let her decide what we would do, as a family, to celebrate. This year, Camille has decided dinner at Friendly's and a trip to the Build-A-Bear Workshop is how she would like to mark the occasion, so that's what we're going to do... together.

A Big Girl Bed

Last night, a very disappointed Camille slept in her crib. She really wanted to sleep in the big girl bed. So, today, while Mommy was at work, Daddy went to the store and bought bed rails, a mattress pad and some sheets. Mommy didn't particularly care for Daddy's taste in sheets (he said he liked the monkey sheets because Camille was born in the year of the monkey) but, of course, Camille loves the monkey sheets, so everything is fine. I will take Camille to the store on the weekend to let her pick out her own sheet set so we have a spare. Daddy put the sheets and the rails on this afternoon. Here is Camille modeling her new bed!

Room for two?

Mimi and Bop came up this weekend, so we used the opportunity to move Uncle Matt's old bed to the house and set it up in Camille's room. Her big girl bed. Since we don't have a mattress pad, sheets or bed rails yet, we decided to assemble the bed and leave the crib. I was pleased at how well the bed and the crib both fit in the room. It got me to thinking... maybe we do have room for TWO!

Friday Family FotoFun Challange - Play Ball!

Loving Lydia has taken over the FFFFC! Hooray! This week's theme is "Play Ball!"

When I think about how much Camille loves to play ball, it surprises me how few pictures we have of her actually playing ball. She has loved playing ball since day one. The first 2 pictures were taken at the Discovery Museum during an early intervention therapy session when Camille was 13 months old. They are 2 of my favorites.

These photos are more recent. Camille (and Riley) love to play soccer with a midget-size Nerf soccer ball.

The Big Snake

In May, the Little Rock Foundation sponsored a trip to Six Flags Great Adventure. The foundation was chosen to be the recipient of the New Jersey Association of Student Councils State Charity award. At Six Flags, The NJASC presented a check for $191,200 to the Little Rock Foundation. It was a really fun day.

So where does this big snake come in? Mommy is a 'Whack-a-Mole' champ! I won the big snake playing 'Whack-a-Mole'. Joe, the foundation's photographer snapped this picture. He emailed it to me yesterday. I thought it was too cute not to post.

Riley's New "Do"

It's been hot. And since Riley is going in to be spayed on the 16th, we thought it was a good time to get Riley a summer haircut. A new 'do'... we had the groomer take her hair down to 1/4 inch. I think she looks quite sporty.

Camille's First Movie

RATATOUILLE

Cami saw her very first movie in the movie theater. Mimi and Mommy tried, unsuccessfully, to get ticket to see Ratatouille at the matinee on July 4, but they were sold out! So, last night (actually yesterday afternoon) I took Cami to the theater to see the movie. To my delight and amazment, Cami was as good as gold! I brought along a Lunchable and a juice box, so Cami would have something to eat. She sat in her seat and watched the entire movie. A nice touch... the theater provides booster seats for the younger set. It came in handy, not only so Cami could see over the people in front of her, but also so the seat did not fold up on her!
I'm sure it won't be long before we see another movie in the theater.

Summer Fun for Little Girls

On a whim, I painted Cami's toe nails. As Cami is definitely a "girlie-girl" I suspected she would LOVE it... and she did!
