Camp Weekend

This past weekend was very special. I was able to get away and spend some time with some very good friends and go on a "Wild Women's Weekend" camping trip. An all female, 3 day weekend camp out at Grove Point on the Chesapeake Bay. And boy did we have a great time! I can't wait for next year! He's just a SMALL sampling of the weekend's activities!

My 3-year-old daughter was the flower girl for my brother's wedding. She was so excited to "marry Uncle Chris"... It was an adorable day...

A Rose by any other name...

We found a new school. There were 2 kindergarten seats available and we were able to secure one of them. The news is bitter-sweet. We are glad to have found a great school and secured a seat, but we are still sad about the situation with the other school. At mass on Sunday, our priest, Father Ed, said that any time a Catholic school closes it's doors it is like a death in the parish family. I think he is right.

So this fall, sight unseen, Camille will become a "Rose." The school administration has been gracious and very helpful, already offering to put us in touch with other school families over the summer, but we are close to other families who have children who are enrolled in this school as well. Interestingly, this school was Michael's first choice, but not mine, because it's location was not walking distance from our house as was the original school that has been closed.

We will move forward, again with enthusiasm and excitement as we get closer to the fall. For now we will focus on enjoying the upcoming summer activities... the trips to the shore, water parks, summer camp, cookouts, spending time with family and friends.

A letter from the Bishop

We received a very upsetting letter from the Bishop yesterday. The dioceses has decided to close the school we had enrolled Camille in for kindergarten this coming fall. You can see a short clip where FOX Philly covered the story this morning here: Sudden School Closing Announcement

We're shocked and disappointed, but I'm sure we'll figure something out; It will just take some reconsideration and some time. Ah, the joy of parenthood...

Camille's Dance Recital

Camille had her second dance recital today. The girls danced ballet to Jimmy Buffet and Kermit the Frog singing Caribbean Amphibian. As photography was not permitted during the recital, most of the photos below are from the dress rehearsal on Friday night, except for the last photo which was taken at the final curtain call. All of the girls did a terrific job. We were very proud!

I'll let you be the "judge"

I'll let you try to figure out what I'm trying to demonstrate in these 2 pictures... I'll give you a hint; it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Michael is present in the first photo and absent in the second... (Michael actually took the second photo and he did an excellent job, don't you think?)

Preschool Graduation

These photos are a little out of order, but you get a general idea. It's very late and I've got an early morning tomorrow. It was a wonderful graduation. Camille did a lovely job. We are very proud of her. Good night.
