Adoption Timeline

June 1, 2004 - Application for admission to the China Adoption Program with Americans Adopting Orphans in Seattle, Washington.

June 7, 2004 - First home study meeting with social worker with Catholic Charities. Send in I-600-A application to BCIS

July 7, 2004 - Fourth and final meeting with social worker.

July 14, 2004 - Received all paperwork (birth certificates, marriage certificates, health forms, referrals, fingerprint reports, background check, etc.) and draft of the home study report.

July 29, 2004 - Received final copy of the home study report. All other paperwork is out for authentication.

August 12, 2004 - Fingerprinted by BCIS today. The only thing that is left is to wait on the 171-H!

September 23, 2004 - Received 171-H... paperchase is complete! We will be DTC in October as planned!

October 15, 2004 - All of our paperwork has been authenticated at the state and country level.
Our 171-H has been authenticated by the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco.

October 25, 2004 - We received word that our dossier arrived at the Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs in Bejing at 9:23am. WE ARE OFFICIALLY DTC!!!

Now for the really hard part... the wait. Referral times are currently 6-7 months. We are hoping to have a referral in April or May of 2005.
